National Coffee Day is coming up on September 29. DoorDash is marking the occasion by serving up a list of the Top Coffee Shops for 2026, featuring top-rated small and medium-sized coffee shops on DoorDash. Based on DoorDash data from July 2025 through July 2026, the list includes small and medium-sized coffee shops with fewer than 10 stores, at least 1,000 lifetime reviews, and the highest average consumer ratings during the measurement period.
The list recognizes the standout small and medium-sized local coffee shops helping customers start their mornings, power through the afternoon, and everything in between.
Coffee’s Big Year on DoorDash
Coffee had a standout year, and the DoorDash order data shows exactly when customers were reaching for it most:
- In the year from July 2025 to July 2026, more than 80 million coffee orders were placed on DoorDash.
- The most popular time to order coffee was 9 a.m., and the most popular day was Friday, pointing to coffee’s role as a morning ritual with an extra lift heading into the weekend.
- The busiest day of the year for coffee orders was Friday, December 19, with nearly 280,000 orders, more than any other day. This may have been driven by holiday routines, gifting, and office ordering as the year wound down.
“National Coffee Day is a chance to celebrate the local coffee shops that are part of our everyday routines,” said Ruth Isenstadt, head of U.S. restaurants at DoorDash. “They’re the places that know your order, know their regulars, and become part of the neighborhood. This list celebrates some of the local favorites doing that every day in communities across the country.”
