Flexbone Selected by Google.org to Build FindCare, a New AI Healthcare Directory

Directory data has always been messy and incomplete. Flexbone’s FindCare uses AI to verify insurance, availability, and more across tens of thousands of sites.

Keeping directory data accurate used to take armies of people and budgets few could afford. With AI agents, we can do it continuously and make the answers available to the public.”

ATLANTA, GA, UNITED STATES, October 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Most healthcare directories show where a facility is but not which insurance it accepts, what care costs, or whether it is taking new patients. Flexbone, Co., an AI-based healthcare technology company, is building FindCare, an AI-powered directory to answer those questions, and has been selected as one of 15 recipients of the Google.org Impact Challenge: AI for Government Innovation.

FindCare is an AI-powered tool in private beta that helps the public find affordable care, with or without insurance. It goes beyond facility listings to answer the questions people actually have: Which insurance plans does a facility accept? Is it accepting new patients? What will care cost out of pocket? How do I book an appointment? The global challenge it was selected for supports nonprofits, social enterprises, and academic institutions working with governments to use generative and agentic AI to improve public services.

Public directories such as Care Compare from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Find a Health Center from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) help people locate facilities, but they were not built to answer those questions. FindCare is being built to cover more than 65,000 ambulatory surgery centers, nursing homes, assisted living communities, and health center sites.

Insurers and other companies maintain their own provider directories, but keeping them accurate has proven difficult, and listings with wrong locations, outdated phone numbers, or providers no longer accepting new patients are common. FindCare is being built as a more comprehensive, more accurate data product.

FindCare builds on public data from CMS, HRSA, and state licensing agencies. It uses Google’s Gemini models to extract hours, phone numbers, and services from facility websites, and the team is developing AI agents to verify details directly with facilities and keep them current.

More than 27 million Americans lacked health insurance in 2024, and HRSA-funded health centers served more than 32.7 million patients in 2025. About 2.3 million people live in nursing homes and assisted living communities, where families often help make care decisions.

“As a clinician with over 35 years of experience, I know that receiving care means more than locating a facility – it means knowing whether it meets your needs and what you can expect to pay. A 2026 KFF updated poll shows that nearly three in ten adults report skipping or postponing needed care because of cost concerns. FindCare helps people understand their options,” said Ross Hoffman, MD, senior advisor to Flexbone.

Through a three-month Google.org Accelerator, Flexbone’s FindCare team will receive technical training, one-on-one mentoring from Google AI experts, Google Cloud credits, and support from an AI coach and project success manager. During the program, the team will build agents to collect and keep current the insurance, cost, and scheduling details people need.

The cohort recently launched in Washington, D.C., and will present at a Demo Day in London, England during the week of December 7, 2026.

“Keeping directory data accurate used to take armies of people and budgets few could afford. With AI agents, we can do it continuously and make the answers available to the public,” said Sayem Hoque, CEO of Flexbone. “With support from Google.org, we are scaling this across tens of thousands of facilities.”

“AI holds incredible potential to transform public services, but there is often a gap between promise and practice,” said Maggie Johnson, Global Head of Google.org. “By equipping the 15 selected organizations with funding and pro bono support from Google’s own AI experts, we are empowering the people closest to the problem to show what is truly possible. Together, we can ensure that AI makes a profound, positive difference in the everyday lives of communities worldwide.”
